Japan’s Most Charming Harry Potter Birthday Merch Returns, From Hagrid’s Cake Rugs to ¥22,000 House Jackets

Hagrid couldn’t spell it, but he meant every letter — and Japan’s Village Vanguard has built an entire product line out of that lumpy, lovingly misspelled birthday cake. The retailer’s “HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY” collection is back for made-to-order sales ahead of Harry’s July 31 birthday, and the order window closes July 13.

Village Vanguard reopened orders on June 26, 2026, and they run through Monday, July 13 at 10:00am JST, with items shipping mid-to-late July. One caveat straight from the store: ordering can close early once an item’s planned quantity sells through, and several pieces are already showing single-digit stock — so this is not a deadline to test.

Ordering from Outside Japan

Village Vanguard’s online store ships within Japan, so international fans will need a workaround: a package-forwarding or proxy-shopping service that provides a Japanese address, or a very good friend in Japan willing to play owl. Whichever route you take, the order still has to be placed before the July 13 deadline.
