Hagrid and Dobby Are Getting Their Own “Pocket Potters” Guides This August
Update, August 15, 2026: Scholastic has moved the US release of Hagrid and Dobby to September 1, 2026. Its store now lists both books as pre-orders shipping on or around that date. The original announcement gave August 18. The UK release went ahead as planned on August 13.
Mind the pockets — Hagrid’s got a lot hiding in his, and Bloomsbury is about to show you every last one of them.
Two new additions to the Pocket Potters series, Hagrid and Dobby, are officially on the way this August. The pint-sized guides join a growing shelf of illustrated companions — already home to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore, and Luna Lovegood — packed with story moments, direct quotes, and Easter eggs for fans to hunt down.
Each book gets its own illustrator. Hagrid comes from Olia Muza, who also illustrated the Ron Weasley volume: “I love Harry Potter for the childhood it gave me. It brought colour and brightness into my world.” Her pages dig into the contents of Hagrid’s pockets and his devotion to Fang. Dobby is illustrated by Helen Brady, who’s also behind the upcoming Luna Lovegood guide: “I’d meet my postman on the drive when each new book came out and then I wouldn’t be able to put it down, day or night, until I’d got to the end!” Her spreads feature socks, bobble hats, and Petunia’s infamous pudding.
