HBO’s “Harry Potter” Gets Its First Collectible: Kakawow’s Event-Exclusive Trading Cards Limited to 2,026 Copies
Accio, merchandise! The first physical collectible bearing the branding of HBO’s Harry Potter series has quietly arrived — and it was never for sale.
Chinese premium card maker Kakawow handed out event-exclusive “2026 KAKAWOW Harry Potter TV Series Limited Cards” in attendee gift bags at its KAKAJOY Asia Card Show, held July 24–26 in Shanghai. The cards surfaced this week thanks to a fan report from Reddit user u/NathanCS741, who attended the show and shared photos of the packs and cards.

Three Cards, Straight From Season 1
There are three designs to collect, all built from HBO’s officially released Season 1 promotional stills rather than new imagery:
- Albus Dumbledore (John Lithgow) in the Great Hall
- Harry Potter in his “POTTER 7” Quidditch cloak, on his way to the match
- Harry, Ron, and Hermione walking a Hogwarts cloister together
If the Quidditch image sounds familiar, it should — it’s the very first official still HBO released from the series, unveiled on the show’s Instagram back in March:

Each attendee’s gift bag included one purple foil pack containing a single card. According to the fan report, the cards come in two rarities: a standard version and a shiny “rare” version serial-numbered out of 2,026 — a wink at the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone hitting theaters in 2001.
✦ Collector’s Case ✦
Promotional Use Only — For Now
The purple card backs carry the Season 1 logo, the event date (2026/07/24), and a telling line of fine print: “FOR SERIES PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY,” alongside the HBO, Warner Bros., and J.K. Rowling publishing-rights legal block. In other words, these were giveaways, not products — which makes them some of the very first officially licensed physical items tied to the show. Notably, the cards use the Philosopher’s Stone title, matching the series’ official Season 1 branding.
Kakawow — the Chinese collectible-card brand whose Harry Potter film sets have been blockbusters among collectors — used the same show to launch its gem-studded Harry Potter 25th anniversary line, and the fan report says film alumni Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood) appeared at the event. As always, treat the attendee-level details as a firsthand fan account rather than an official announcement — though the cards themselves also appear in Kakawow’s own KAKAJOY promotional graphics.
With a one-card-per-attendee limit, expect these to start trickling onto the secondary market — and to command a premium as some of the earliest series collectibles in existence.
