Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, site of a planned first-of-its-kind Harry Potter themed land

Diagon Alley to Hogwarts in One Land: Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi’s Harry Potter Expansion Advances

The owl post from Abu Dhabi keeps getting better. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi’s long-anticipated Harry Potter land is moving forward — and it’s shaping up to be unlike any Wizarding World that exists today.

A quick note on where this stands: the land is not open yet. It’s an expansion still under construction, but the signs of progress are adding up — a dedicated marketing head has been appointed, themed merchandise is starting to appear in a park store, and the build is well underway. Warner Bros. World is aiming for completion in the coming years, and no firm opening date has been announced.

Why this one is different

Two things make the project genuinely new territory. It’s set to be the first Harry Potter land outside Universal’s parks — and the first anywhere in the world to house both Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley within a single land. Right now, the closest equivalent is at Universal Orlando, where fans have to move between two separate parks to experience both. In Abu Dhabi, they’ll sit side by side.

What’s planned

Because Warner Bros. World is one of the world’s largest indoor theme parks, the operator can build elaborate, movie-set-style environments shielded from the desert heat. A government-issued construction permit points to a Diagon Alley, a Hogwarts Castle, a Harry Potter ride and an area many believe is themed to the Forbidden Forest. The castle’s flagship attraction is reported to be a dark ride whose seats ride a giant robotic arm along a coaster track — the kind of motion designed to make you feel like you’re on a broomstick alongside Harry.
