Germany’s Bookstores Go Back to Hogwarts: Thalia and Osiander Launch a 13-Stop Harry Potter Tour
In Germany, the road back to Hogwarts runs straight through the bookstore. Thalia and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have launched a free Back to Hogwarts roadshow across eleven Thalia and two Osiander bookstores nationwide, running from late July into early September as the wizarding school year begins on September 1.
Stops include cities like Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Bremen, Münster, Stuttgart, and Munich, with each store hosting a day (or two) of activities. Participation is free.
What’s at each stop
- Sorting Hat ceremony — get sorted into your Hogwarts house by Spin Master’s talking Sorting Hat
- LEGO guessing contest — estimate the brick count of a Harry Potter LEGO figure to win an exclusive LEGO set
- Wheel of fortune from Carlsen Verlag (the German Harry Potter publisher) with prizes
- Button-making and painting stations for custom wizarding-world designs
- HBO series preview stele — watch the trailer for the upcoming HBO Original Harry Potter series in-store
- Platform 9¾ photo spot and a big Hogwarts quiz
The tour also comes with exclusive Harry Potter accessories sold at participating stores and online, and it’s part of a bigger German Back to Hogwarts season — including a fan event in Berlin’s historic Stadtbad Oderberger on August 29 and DroneArt Show: Harry Potter dates in several cities.
