Spain Got Its First Official Taste of Butterbeer — Courtesy of a Traveling Harry Potter Truck

Hogsmeade came to the Iberian Peninsula this spring — one scoop at a time.

For the first time ever, Spanish fans got an official taste of Butterbeer on home soil, courtesy of department-store giant El Corte Inglés and a traveling #ButterbeerSeason pop-up truck that rolled through three cities in May. Butterbeer Season — the annual celebration of the Wizarding World’s most iconic drink, best known from Universal’s theme parks — had never before touched down in Spain.

What Was on the Menu

The star attraction was a Butterbeer-inspired ice cream, debuting in Spain and given free to fans who registered a slot in advance. A limited number of walk-up spots were handed out at each location on a first-come, first-served basis.

Around the truck, El Corte Inglés set up a full Harry Potter shop stocked with toys, books, music, stationery and merchandise — plus an exclusive Butterbeer Season capsule collection sold only inside the pop-up.

The Tour Stops

  • Madrid — outdoor terrace, third floor, El Corte Inglés Sanchinarro, May 8–10
  • Málaga — outdoor terrace, El Corte Inglés Avenida de Andalucía, May 21–23
  • Zaragoza — Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta (El Kiosco de las Letras), May 29–31

Hours were the same at every stop: 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–21:00.

Why It Matters

The timing was no accident. 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” and with the HBO series arriving on HBO Max this Christmas, Butterbeer Season is spreading well beyond the gates of Universal’s parks. Butterbeer itself first appeared in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” before becoming one of the fandom’s most beloved symbols.

The tour has wrapped, so there are no tickets left to chase — but given the turnout, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Butterbeer truck back on the road in 2027.
