Department 56 Unveils a Slytherin Common Room Diorama in Its “A Room with a View” Line
The dungeons are finally getting their moment in the (green) light. Department 56 has revealed the Slytherin Common Room, the newest entry in its “A Room with a View” Harry Potter diorama line, and it’s up now as a Coming Soon pre-order on the official Department 56 site.
If the format looks familiar, that’s because the line debuted last year with the Gryffindor Common Room, a collaboration between Department 56 and NECA first shown at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025. That inaugural piece set the template: a lit, room-sized diorama built around a stained-glass window, stone-textured walls, the house crest, and ambient LED lighting, released as a first edition of just 3,000 hand-numbered pieces with twenty-four movable artifacts tucked inside. It carried the same $299 price tag.

A quick note on what’s still unconfirmed: the Slytherin product page is light on the collector details that made the Gryffindor release such a talking point. Department 56 has not yet published an edition size, an artifact count, or whether the Slytherin room is hand-numbered like its predecessor. So while it’s reasonable to expect the same first-edition treatment, treat those specifics as unconfirmed until the full spec sheet lands. What we can say is that the footprint is nearly identical to the Gryffindor piece, which bodes well for collectors hoping to display the two side by side.
For house-pride purposes, this is the one Slytherins have been waiting for: a glowing little slice of the dungeons to set on the shelf right next to Gryffindor Tower.
