New Harry Potter Trading Card Game Released in Japan: Details, How to Import & Pre-Order
Accio booster packs! Japan has a brand-new Harry Potter trading card game, and the first expansion is already on the calendar.
The Harry Potter Card Game, a collaboration between Japanese merchandise maker Movic and Warner Bros. Discovery, hit general release in Japan on April 25 after an early-access run at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo. The competitive two-player TCG builds its card art entirely from stills from the original films — a choice that became an instant talking point, with one viral unboxing of a six-card Draco Malfoy set leaving fans joking they laughed for five minutes straight at the meme-worthy image choices. The cards share names but differ in effects, types, and rarities.
A quick note on what this is: the game launched back in April, so it isn’t brand-new news — but with the second booster set now dated, this is the moment to get in on the ground floor.

For now this is a Japan-only release with no announced international rollout. Fans outside Japan can order through import shops and marketplaces like eBay, use a package-forwarding service for Mahoudokoro (Japan’s official Wizarding World shops), or follow Movic’s official card game site for news on a wider release.
Update: promo cards, early sales, and where to buy Part 2
UPDATE (August 13, 2026): With the Part 2 booster now weeks away, the official Harry Potter Japan account has revealed the store-exclusive promotional cards and confirmed how to get them — plus an earlier-than-expected chance to buy.
Advance sales start August 21 at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo, eight days ahead of the August 29 general release. Pre-orders are also open now through the Mahodokoro Online Shop, the Movic online store, and other retailers.
The spend bonus: buy ¥5,500 (about US$35) or more of eligible Harry Potter Card Game products in one transaction and you’ll get a limited promotional card — one per transaction, first come, first served, while supplies last. Eligible products are the Part 1 booster, the Gryffindor and Slytherin starter decks, and the new Part 2 booster.
Participating stores for that bonus: Studio Tour Tokyo, the Harry Potter Shops in Harajuku and Akasaka plus Online Japan, and Harry Potter Mahodokoro at Tokyo Station, Sakae Park, Landmark Plaza, and its online shop.
A separate PR card is being handed out elsewhere: buy one box of the Part 2 booster and you’ll receive a limited promotional card per transaction at Animate stores, the Animate online shop, the Movic online shop, and other retailers — with some outlets, such as convenience stores, excluded.
As a reminder on pricing, the Part 2 booster runs ¥440 (about US$2.75) for a five-card pack, or ¥5,280 (about US$33) for a 12-pack box, and leans on memorable scenes from the back half of the first film.
