Industry Insider Says Hogwarts Legacy 2 Is “Far Along” Despite Skipping the Summer Showcases

The Marauder’s Map says Hogwarts Legacy 2 is still moving — even if nobody spotted it at last week’s summer showcases.

Despite a packed week of reveals across Sony’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest, and the Xbox Games Showcase, Warner Bros.’ Wizarding World sequel was nowhere to be seen. Now journalist Jordan Middler, speaking on the VGC podcast, says the game is “far along” in development and could land in 2027 — or just as easily 2028.

Take this with the usual caveat that these are unverified insider claims — Warner Bros. has acknowledged the sequel exists but hasn’t officially shown or dated it. Middler is a well-regarded industry journalist, but a release window is his read, not an announcement.

Where things stand:

  • The original Hogwarts Legacy launched in 2023 and is estimated to have sold over 40 million copies
  • The sequel is believed to have been in development at Avalanche Software since 2023
  • Middler suggests a 2027 or 2028 release window
  • Early rumors point to a much larger open world, possibly stretching from the Scottish Highlands to London — Diagon Alley included
  • A reveal at The Game Awards 2026 would land right around the HBO series premiere, making it a natural stage

Are you hoping for a 2027 reveal-and-release, or would you rather Avalanche take its time? Let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to follow along for the latest Harry Potter news.
