Ginny Weasley Recast: New Actress to Play Ginny in HBO Harry Potter Season 2
Gracie Cochrane will not be returning as Ginny Weasley in Season 2 of the HBO Harry Potter series.
Her family released a statement saying she made the “challenging decision to step away” due to unforeseen circumstances, adding that her time in the Wizarding World was “truly wonderful.”
HBO responded with full support, saying they are grateful for her work on Season 1 and wish her and her family the best.
A new actress will be cast to take on the role of Ginny for Season 2, which is set to begin production this fall. Ginny is a particularly significant character given her relationship with Harry later in the series.
Season 1 — Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone — premieres Christmas Day 2026 on HBO Max.
