A “Hogwarts Snow Tree” Is Coming to Central Tokyo, Timed to the HBO Series Premiere
Some Christmas trees get a star on top. This one gets a castle.
Mitsubishi Estate is turning Tokyo’s Marunouchi district into the Wizarding World this winter, with Warner Bros. Japan cooperating on the collaboration. MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY runs from Thursday, November 12 through Friday, December 25, 2026, spreading across the Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho area under the theme “the magical snow that colors Marunouchi.”

The centerpiece is the HOGWARTS SNOW TREE, the symbol tree at the Marunouchi Building. It anchors a lighting show in which magical snow glitters around the tree in time with the music from the Harry Potter film series — the kind of thing designed to stop foot traffic dead in a business district at dusk.
What’s happening across the district
The tree is the headline, but the decorations run building to building. Shin-Marunouchi Building, Marunouchi Oazo and Marunouchi Brick Square all get themed treatments, along with other spots across the three neighbourhoods. Warner Bros. Japan also confirms participatory content and monument decorations placed around the area so visitors can walk a route from indoors out onto the streets, plus limited-edition merchandise at participating stores and a dedicated pop-up shop.

This is the first year Marunouchi’s winter programming runs under the single MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY banner, pulling the illuminations, the Christmas market and the area decorations together into one campaign. Harry Potter is what it launches with.
The part that isn’t announced yet
Specifics on the merchandise, the pop-up shop and the decorations at the other buildings are all being held back until late October. The renders released so far are labelled as concept images, so the finished tree may not look exactly like the art. Anyone planning a trip around it should treat the current details as the shape of the thing rather than the final word.
The end date is not an accident. December 25 is the day HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres, and the announcement leans on that directly. Tokyo gets six weeks of build-up, and the lights go out the night the show arrives.
Full details are on the official MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY event page.
