Animate’s Harry Potter Summer Goods Fair Returns July 4 With a Build-Your-Own Keychain Workshop in Ikebukuro
Pack a coin purse full of Galleons — Animate is going full wizard this summer. Japan’s anime retail giant has announced the “Harry Potter” Summer Goods Fair 2026, running July 4 through August 2, anchored by an Only Shop pop-up at the Animate Ikebukuro flagship store with photo spots, a wave of new merchandise, and the first-ever Harry Potter “Customania” workshop.

The workshop, on the store’s 7F SOUTH floor, lets fans build a one-of-a-kind magical keychain by choosing one of three base designs — a Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans box, a Hogwarts acceptance letter, or a Hogwarts crest — and filling it from a pool of 65 parts, from house crests and Every Flavour Bean charms to mini character photos. Participation is ¥3,300 (about $21) and takes roughly 15 minutes. For opening weekend, July 4 and 5, entry requires a free first-come ticket through the LINE app — same-day signup runs 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., one ticket per person per day, and they’re non-transferable. From July 6 onward, entry is free all day.

The goods fair side isn’t limited to Tokyo: at every Animate store in Japan, the Animate Online Shop, and Movic mail order, each ¥2,200 (about $14) spent on Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts goods earns one of six bonus postcards featuring newly drawn art by illustrator Sarachiyomi, while supplies last.
The new merch line uses Sarachiyomi’s latest illustrations and leans heavily into Quidditch. Highlights:
- House robe ponchos sized for your plushies (all four houses) — ¥1,650 (about $10)
- Locket keychains in Gryffindor (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred & George, Sirius) and Slytherin (Draco, Snape, Tom Riddle) lines — ¥1,320 (about $8) each
- Patronus keychain blind packs (8 designs) — ¥770 (about $5)
- Live-action photo card packs, Vol. 3 (40 designs) — ¥275 (about $2)
- Severus Snape and Gellert Grindelwald acrylic bookends — ¥2,200 (about $14)
- Made-to-order jumbo die-cut panels of Harry, Draco, and Snape — ¥7,150 (about $45), ordering through August 2 and shipping this fall
For fans outside Japan: the workshop and photo spots are in-person only, but the merch (and potentially the bonus postcards) can be reached through proxy-shopping services that work with the Animate Online Shop, such as Buyee or ZenMarket.
The official Harry Potter Japan account also confirmed the fair on Instagram:
