Wake up — it’s Draco Malfoy’s birthday, and the official Harry Potter Instagram has gone fully green-and-silver to celebrate.
On June 5, the verified @harrypotter account (13.1M followers) rolled out what it’s calling a “#Dracover” — a complete profile takeover for the franchise’s favorite Slytherin. The account swapped its profile picture for a party-hatted illustration of Draco and changed its bio to read “this is a slytherin-only zone.”
The buildup started the day before with a teaser: a cartoon Draco in a party hat ringed by serpents and green apples, captioned “Wake up — it’s Draco’s birthday tomorrow,” with the dry promise that “tomorrow is going to be a totally normal day.” That post alone cleared 91,000 likes.
The lineup also included a Pottermore Publishing illustration paired with one of Draco’s most-quoted lines from Chamber of Secrets — the “Training for the ballet, Potter?” jab from Chapter 10 — captioned “It never gets less iconic.”
Then came the moment fans really lost it over: Tom Felton himself, who played Draco across all eight films, dropped into the comments with the character’s signature threat, “My father will hear about this.” The account fired back, “everyone’s going to hear about this.” Felton’s comment racked up more than 3,000 likes.
The rest of the comments were pure fandom joy — fans crowning it “the most important birthday of the year,” noting that Draco “had to be a gemini, of course,” sharing that they’re June 5 birthday twins with him, and calling for a full Draco account takeover like in years past. A few cheeky Harry stans turned up to insist their boy wins instead.
It’s a fun reminder that even the franchise’s official channels know exactly which character fans want to throw a party for — and Draco, the reluctant fan favorite, clearly tops that list.
