Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo Stays Open After Tuesday Night Fire

A fire broke out inside Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter on the evening of Tuesday, September 29, Japan time (Tuesday morning in the US), but the doors opened as normal the next day.

The Studio Tour, in Tokyo’s Nerima ward, confirmed the fire in a notice on its official website and in Instagram Stories on its @wbtourtokyo account. The English version of the website notice reads:

“Following a fire that occurred in part of the facility on the evening of September 29, 2026, the fire was quickly extinguished, there were no injuries, and safety has been confirmed. Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo will therefore operate as usual.”

The notice doesn’t say where in the building the fire started or what caused it.

The Digital Guide Is Off Until Further Notice

The one thing that has changed for visitors is the Digital Guide. The Studio Tour has suspended sales and use of it “due to this incident,” with no return date given. The guide is the handheld audio device you pick up at a counter on arrival. It’s offered in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean, and the Japanese version is narrated by Kensho Ono, the Japanese voice of Harry.

Refunds and Date Changes

  • Already bought a Digital Guide? You’ll get a refund.
  • Holding a Studio Tour ticket? You can change your date, cancel, or request a refund if you’d rather not go right now.
  • For either, contact the Visitor Services team.

Two Other Notices If You’re Visiting Soon

  • The Knight Bus is off display for maintenance and is expected back in early November. This appears as a separate notice, and the Studio Tour doesn’t link it to the fire.
  • Typhoon No. 26: the tour is operating as normal for now. Check the Studio Tour’s news page (in Japanese) before you travel.

The Studio Tour’s Dark Arts Halloween event is still running through November 8, 2026.
