Japan Marks Harry Potter’s Birthday With a ‘HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY’ Cake Collection at Mahou Dokoro

“Happee Birthdae Harry.” Hagrid’s lopsided pink cake is one of the most beloved images in the whole series, and Japan’s official Harry Potter store is building an entire celebration around it. From July 17, Mahou Dokoro is marking Harry’s July 31 birthday with a special cake-themed collection and a run of in-store events.

The lineup takes its cue from that famous birthday cake, translating its cracks, cherries, and hand-piped “HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY” lettering into a range of cute, cake-inspired items.

The Birthday Collection

  • Mellow shirt — the cake’s cracks and lettering rendered in a mellow design, with “HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY” embroidered at the chest
  • HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY T-shirt — a unisex tee printed with the cake illustration
  • Jam sandwich cookies — a this-year-only treat that recreates the cake’s lettering and cracks, filled with sweet-tart strawberry jam
  • Cake shoulder bag (pre-order) — frills, beads, and dripping “cream” for a true showpiece
  • Cherry pouch (pre-order) — lace-trimmed, with soft cream and a cherry accent

Pre-orders for the bag and pouch open July 17, with shipping expected in October.

In-Store Events and Bonuses

  • Spend bonus: purchases of ¥7,310 (about $45) or more (incl. tax) come with a miniature cake in a box and birthday-cake sticky notes, at all stores including online, July 17–31 (while supplies last, one per transaction)
  • Online exclusive: double points on purchases of ¥12,000 (about $74) or more (incl. tax), July 17–31
  • In-store fun: limited-edition birthday receipts, a birthday-cake stamp station to build your own “HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY” cake, and a message-card project to write birthday wishes to Harry

The in-store events run at the Sakae Koen (Nagoya, Oasis 21), Landmark Plaza (Yokohama), and Tokyo Station shops.

Mahou Dokoro is a Japan-only chain, but its online shop ships domestically, so international fans can grab the cake collection through a Japan-based package-forwarding service.
