Cho Chang Star Katie Leung Joins Two ‘Game of Thrones’ Alumni in the New London Play ‘Expecting’

Cho Chang is trading the Room of Requirement for a London stage.

Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films from Goblet of Fire onward, has joined the cast of Expecting, a new play getting its world premiere at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, west London. Producers ABS Productions announced the full cast on October 1, 2026.

Who She Plays

Leung plays Zoey, who is deciding with her partner Ethan whether to have a baby. Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins) plays Ethan. Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Derry Girls) plays Zoey’s younger sister Trish, who already has two children, and John Bradley (Game of Thrones, 3 Body Problem) plays Trish’s new boyfriend, Matt.

The play is written by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola and directed by Andy Sandberg. The producers describe it as exploring why couples are waiting longer to have children, or deciding not to have them at all.

Leung has kept busy since Hogwarts. Her recent screen credits include Bridgerton and Nightsleeper, and she has appeared on stage at the Royal Court, the National Theatre and the Almeida.
