Madrid’s Free Back to Hogwarts Pop-Up Sold Out in Days — What Fans Missed
Madrid’s Gran Vía is about to get a lot more magical — and it won’t cost you a knut. As part of this year’s global Back to Hogwarts celebration, Espacio Movistar at Gran Vía 28 is hosting a free Harry Potter experience from August 28 through September 3, 2026, timed to the 25th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.”

The space offers a themed family route from King’s Cross station through to Diagon Alley, with photo spots and activities designed for all ages. Entry was free but required an advance timed-slot reservation — and here’s the catch: the free tickets are now sold out. The official announcement from Harry Potter Spain, Espacio Movistar and HBO Max was updated to confirm it (entradas agotadas), and the comments are full of fans who missed out while the booking page buckled under demand. Slots had run 10:15 to 20:30 daily, except Sunday, August 30 (12:15 to 19:30).

If you’re set on going, it’s worth watching the Espacio Movistar site and socials for released or additional slots — fans in the comments are already asking for more days to be added, and returns sometimes reappear. Nothing has been announced, so treat that as a hope rather than a plan.
The campaign’s key art — the Telefónica building on Gran Vía reimagined as a castle under a sky of owls and letters — comes from Madrid artist Andrea Rodríguez (@aandriiiu), who shared a look at how the piece came together:

One thing to keep straight: this is not the paid “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” touring show — it’s a separate, free anniversary pop-up in the heart of the city.
The timing lines up with the film’s return to Spanish cinemas: “Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal” screens in dozens of theaters across Spain from August 28 through September 1, with 12 minutes of never-before-seen extra footage — so Madrid fans can do the pop-up and the big screen in the same trip. Demand for the re-release has been high, so grabbing cinema tickets early is recommended.
