Harry Potter audiobooks arriving on Spotify Premium for Back to Hogwarts season

The Magic Is Back on Repeat: Harry Potter Audiobooks Surged 551% on Spotify

Turns out the Wizarding World sounds just as good as it reads. Since Spotify added the Harry Potter audiobooks to its Premium tier on July 1, listeners have been returning to Hogwarts in staggering numbers — and the HBO series hasn’t even premiered yet.

The launch brought all seven audiobooks to Spotify Premium through a partnership with Pottermore Publishing, with narration by Stephen Fry (available in all markets) or Jim Dale (in North America). The response was immediate. According to figures shared with People, global listens for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone jumped 551% in the first week alone, while US listens for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets climbed a remarkable 1,227%.

To keep listeners moving through the series, Spotify also rolled out a feature called Series Linking, which flags when a book is part of a series and automatically queues up the next installment when you finish one — so there’s no leaving Hogwarts to hunt for book two.

The timing is no accident. With the 25th anniversary of the first film this year and the HBO series set to premiere on Christmas Day, the whole franchise is having a moment — and it seems plenty of fans are choosing to revisit the story by ear before it returns to the screen.
