12 Minutes You’ve Never Seen: The Harry Potter Films Are Back in Theaters for One Week Only
Grab your ticket from Platform 9¾ — the whole saga is going back to the big screen.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” all eight Harry Potter films are returning to theaters for a limited run from August 27 to September 3 as part of Warner Bros.’ annual Back to Hogwarts celebration. The headliner: the first film screens with 12 minutes of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, featuring interviews with the cast and filmmakers reflecting on the movie that launched the franchise. Only “Sorcerer’s Stone” carries the bonus content — the other seven screen as-is.
How the major US chains are handling it:
- AMC — all eight films August 28–September 3, with the exclusive bonus content on “Sorcerer’s Stone,” plus 25th anniversary concession collectibles in theaters while supplies last
- Regal — August 27–September 3 at $9.75 a ticket, with 3D versions of “Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Deathly Hallows – Part 2”
- Marcus — the Harry Potter Passport: all eight films for $30, one per day
- Harkins — $6 per film at the box office, or a $30 All Access Pass
- Cinemark — participating from August 27, with its anniversary merch line already in theaters
Tickets have been on sale since July 31 — Harry’s birthday — via Fandango and chain sites, and showtimes vary by location, so check your local theater. International fans, note the windows differ by region (the UK run is “Philosopher’s Stone” only, August 28–31).
