A New Official “Harry Potter” Trading Card Game Is Coming — Here’s What We Know

Wands down, decks out. The Wizarding World is getting a brand-new officially licensed trading card game: Kakawow and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have announced a long-term strategic partnership to develop a licensed Harry Potter TCG, slated to launch as early as late 2027.

What We Know So Far

  • The game launches with Simplified Chinese and English editions available at release
  • The initial rollout covers Greater China and multiple Asia-Pacific markets
  • Launch window: as early as late 2027 — so treat the date as a target, not a promise
  • The companies call it a long-term partnership meant to serve fans, collectors and competitive TCG players
  • Kakawow has built its name on premium licensed trading cards, with collections spanning Disney, Sanrio and Warner Bros.’ 100th anniversary. This, though, is a full trading card game with its own gameplay — not just a collectible card set.

    A Long Time Coming

Fans have been waiting for a proper competitive Harry Potter TCG since the Wizards of the Coast game went out of print in the early 2000s. It’s also separate from the Movic Harry Potter Card Game that launched in Japan back in April — the Wizarding World’s card table is suddenly getting crowded.

One honest caveat: there’s no word yet on a North American or European release. The announcement focuses squarely on Greater China and Asia-Pacific, though the companies say the partnership aims to reach fans across the globe in the future — so a wider rollout may follow. We’ll keep tabs.
