Hogwarts Castle in Bedfordshire? Universal UK’s Mystery Land Is Now Rumored to Be Harry Potter
There is one patch of Universal’s UK concept art that nobody has been able to identify — an unlabelled corner in the top right that fans have been squinting at since the day the artwork dropped. A Bedford-focused theme park podcast now says that blank corner is Hogsmeade, and that a Hogwarts Castle is going up in the English countryside.
The claim comes from Bricking It, a fan-run podcast covering the Universal United Kingdom Resort, hosted by Andy of Project Universal, Lawrence of Universally Bedford, and Mike of Universal Studios GB Updates. Alicia Stella at Orlando ParkStop wrote up their reporting on August 12, and it’s been making the rounds on social media since.
What’s being claimed
- The mystery top-right section of the official concept art is Harry Potter.
- It would be a Hogsmeade land, built around a clone of Universal’s Hogwarts Castle.
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey would sit inside that castle.
- The knock-on effect: the long-rumoured The Lord of the Rings land now looks unlikely, with the remaining space accounted for by Paddington, Back to the Future, Jurassic and Minions.

Take this with the usual caveat that these are unverified rumours. Bricking It is a fan podcast, not a trade outlet, and Universal has not announced a single attraction for the UK park — not one. Nothing about a castle, a Hogsmeade, or a Forbidden Journey is confirmed.
What a Hogsmeade clone would actually mean
Universal has been building this land since 2010, when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade opened at Islands of Adventure and rewrote what a theme park land could be. Snow-capped roofs, Butterbeer, Honeydukes, Ollivanders, the Hogwarts Express steaming at the gate, and the castle itself standing over the village skyline. Versions have since opened in Japan, Hollywood and Beijing, each one recognisably the same place with small regional differences.
Forbidden Journey is the ride at the heart of it. Guests queue through the castle — past the greenhouses, the portrait gallery, Dumbledore’s office — before boarding an enchanted bench that sweeps them around the grounds, through a Quidditch match, past the Whomping Willow, and into a swarm of Dementors. Fifteen years on, the castle walk-through alone is still one of the best pieces of Potter set dressing anywhere outside Leavesden.
Why Potter was missing from the artwork
Its absence from the original concept art was conspicuous, and Leavesden may be the reason. The Warner Bros. Studio Tour sits roughly 30 miles from the Bedford site, and The Sun previously reported that Universal had been locked in drawn-out negotiations with Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling over the UK rights. That report is unconfirmed too — but it would explain why a franchise Universal already runs in four countries was left out of a British park’s key art.
Where things stand
- Name: Universal United Kingdom Resort, revealed June 3, 2026
- Site: 540 acres near Bedford, England, with a 500-room hotel
- Opening: 2031 — a Universal spokesperson told a Bedfordshire conference in April they’re aiming for spring
- Progress: planning permission took legal effect in January 2026, and on-site work began in June
- Attractions announced: none
The timing is what makes this one sting a little. By 2031 the HBO series will be years into its run, and British fans will have spent the whole of it without a Wizarding World of their own — in the country where the story is set. For now, the corner stays blank, and the announcement, if it comes, will come from Universal rather than a cropped screenshot.
