Paramount Brings All 11 Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Films to MTV, Nickelodeon and Beyond
The Wizarding World just found a new home on American linear television. Paramount has announced a multi-year exclusive licensing deal to bring all eight Harry Potter films and all three Fantastic Beasts movies to MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, and Paramount Network — the first time these franchises will air on any of these channels.
Where and when things stand:
- Exclusive linear home: the Paramount networks, which take over rights NBCUniversal previously held
- Launch date: July 3, 2026
- MTV: a marathon of all eight Harry Potter films, July 3–5 at noon ET/PT
- Paramount Network: a week-long showcase of all eight Harry Potter and all three Fantastic Beasts films, July 13–19, with a featured movie each weeknight at 6 p.m. ET/PT and weekend airings from noon ET/PT
- Nick at Nite and Nickelodeon: a week-long event beginning August 9 at 7 p.m. ET/PT, each title encoring the next day on Nickelodeon
- Labor Day weekend: Nickelodeon airs the Harry Potter films from September 3 as part of the annual Back to Hogwarts celebrations
- Streaming: Peacock and HBO Max keep their co-exclusive streaming rights
The agreement comes as Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, which holds the rights to the Wizarding World, move toward a proposed merger that has been working its way through regulators.
That proposed merger has already drawn early support from a key corner of the Wizarding World. J.K. Rowling’s literary agency, The Blair Partnership, has signaled confidence in the combined company, as we saw earlier this year.
