Platform 9¾ Trolley Rolls Into UK Cinemas for the 25th Anniversary: Where to Find It
Two million people a year queue at King’s Cross for that photo. This month, the wall is coming to them instead.
To mark 25 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone reached cinemas, a replica of the Platform 9¾ luggage trolley is touring cinemas across the UK, giving fans outside London a shot at the franchise’s most photographed pose without a trip to the capital. The photo opportunities are free and run on a first-come, first-served basis.
Confirmed Stops So Far
Cineworld Cardiff — Mary Ann St, Cardiff CF10 2EN
August 24–25, 10am–10pm
Vue Edinburgh (Omni Centre) — Calton Square
August 30–31, 9.30am–4pm
Warner Bros. hasn’t published a single consolidated tour schedule, and stops are being announced city by city through local press and individual cinemas — so if your city isn’t listed above, it isn’t ruled out. Check your local cinema’s website and social channels through late August.
Why Now
The trolley tour is running alongside the anniversary re-release. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is back on the big screen worldwide with 12 minutes of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, part of a global window running August 27 to September 3 that brings all eight films back to cinemas. Screening availability varies by chain and country, so book through your local cinema.
Worth knowing: this is a different animal from the 2021 tour, which parked the trolley in railway stations for the 20th anniversary. This one lives at cinemas, tied directly to the re-release.
Fans have been perfecting this particular pose for years. Here’s one from the permanent Platform 9¾ set at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, which gives you a fair idea of what people will be recreating at the cinema stops:
Robes are optional. Everyone wears them anyway.
