Tim Hortons Turns a Columbus Store Into Hogwarts: Free Donuts, Trivia and Portraits

The Hogwarts House donuts landed at Tims restaurants nationwide this week. One store in Ohio decided that wasn’t enough and redecorated the whole building.

A Harry Potter–themed Tim Hortons takeover has opened for a limited time at 8333 N. High St. in Columbus, with wizarding-world design elements inside and out and selfie spots built for the occasion. It’s the physical centrepiece of the chain’s US Harry Potter launch, which went live at participating locations on August 12.

The free public launch event runs today, Friday, August 14:

  • 10am–12pm — free watercolour-style portraits with an artist on site
  • 12pm–2pm — Harry Potter trivia challenge
  • 10am–6pm — a free Hogwarts House donut for anyone wearing any Harry Potter merchandise

The takeover itself continues beyond launch day, though Tim Hortons hasn’t given an end date beyond “a limited time.”

What’s on the Menu Nationwide

You don’t have to be in Columbus for the food half of this. The US lineup includes four Hogwarts House Donuts — Gryffindor Strawberry Cheesecake, Slytherin Chocolate Pistachio, Ravenclaw Blueberry and Hufflepuff Lemon Meringue — plus a Mystery Box if you’d rather let the Sorting Hat decide. There are Golden Snitch Caramel Timbits with a limited-edition Golden Snitch Timbits holder, and temperature-activated cold cups that change colour to reveal a Patronus.

Limited-edition packaging runs across single-donut Mystery Boxes, multi-pack boxes, Timbits boxes and cold cups, all while supplies last.

A note for our Canadian readers: the Canada-wide launch went live the same week, but the Columbus takeover is a US-market activation — as of now, no equivalent redressed location has been announced north of the border.
